Analyses of regional bioenergy potential
Renewable energy sources guarantee our future energy supply and provide additional income for agriculture, forestry and the rural job market. Especially biomass can be used in various ways to produce fuels, heat and electricity without emitting additional carbon dioxide. The aim of potential analyses is to visualize sustainable harvestable biomass and bioenergy with high spatial exactness.
Methods of potential analyses
First approach
estimation based on
agricultural statistics
Second approach
development and application of GIS-based regional specific bioenergy models:
Both approaches include:
no concurrences between bioenergy and food / fodder production
sustainable aspects: humus carbon balances, climate, soil fertility, cross compliance settlements
